Giant Steps 'Fatal Shore' Pinot Noir 2020

A wicked bottling from two top Pinot blocks in the Coal River Valley, Tasmania. Strong artisan winemaking techniques and impeccable fruit make this such a beautiful expression of Pinot Noir! Pairs perfectly with baked field mushrooms stuffed with black olive risotto.

Great depth of colour. Partly destemmed, and partly left as whole bunches, matured in French barriques (25% new) for eight months. Ripe plum and glossy cherry fruit flavours fill the mouth, with spice and soft tannins adding flavour and texture.

93 Points – Wine Enthusiast

This renowned Yarra Valley winery has ventured outside Victoria and into Tasmania. This bottling bears the Giant Steps signature but walks to a distinctly different beat. It's layered and spicy with brambly red currant, cranberry and blueberry fruit backed by subtle chocolaty oak, white pepper and violets on their stems. There's heft to the palate, with concentrated fruit, spicy, chiseled tannins and barrel influence. An expressive bottling, well-made with longevity in mind. Drink now–2032
