Bodegas Ateca has its headquarters in the locality of Ateca (Zaragoza), fourteen kilometers from Calatayud. The vineyard, planted on slate soil on sites at higher elevations of the area, is made up mainly of small parcels of old vines of Garnacha, or Grenache, from the mountain hillside of Ateca and the surrounding villages. The wine is powerful, with a ripe berry core and generous oak – it will benefit from cellaring, but is enjoyable now with a long decant.
